Fear of Change

Caroline Myss said in her books that some people would rather die than change.

It is the natural process for everything in the universe to change, nothing remains the same. So why do we resist change so much?

I firmly believe that lack of trust is at the core of our fear of change. If we live in a universe that is dangerous and our survival depends on our vigilance then a change in the status quo is threatening.

Trusting ourselves and our intuition are vital steps in removing our fear of change. Letting go of outmoded thinking patterns and the useless parts of our past also helps in this transition.

Facing our fears usually takes place in an experience called the dark night of the soul. These fears must be faced alone and there is no pleasant way to deal with these fears, otherwise they would not be called fears. Everyone survives this experience and has a greater insight as a result. At times trauma, tragedy or illness triggers this episode.

The most interesting part of my healing journey, is that nothing has changed except me. My awareness, perception and illusions about myself and others have changed greatly. It used to be that I expected to live in a Nirvana where everything was perfect according to my plans. Not so, life continues as it always has with changes, the only difference is I have confidence in myself to handle all situations.
