One of the most cherished memories that I have is remembering Sunday afternoon and evening story time. My daddy would read to us from the Bible or other great books. He would act out the parts so that these stories became alive. Joshua, Solomon. David, Samson and Jesus were real people to us. So was Peter Pan, Wendy and so many others.
One day he announced that next Sunday was his birthday and what he wanted from us was a "real" story as he called them. The story had to be ours and no one could help us. My cousins and neighbors all liked the idea and we decided to surprise him on his birthday. I went first. I was four years old at the time.
I really don't remember what I said, but I will never forget the look on my daddy's face when I finished. He grabbed me into his arms and whispered Thank you. It seems like only yesterday.
My point is this, maybe you can do this with your kids or grand kids. Who knows what joy you can bring to you and others?
