One very dear to me has been wrestling with the idea of soulmates lately, and I have been encouraged to read a lot about the subject. Because of this focus, an understanding popped into my consciousness yesterday.

As parts of the ONE that IS all that is, we have an inherent desire to return to that Oneness (see Yearning). Yet in this material world we see only evidence of separation, our physical senses perceive bodies instead of our true spiritual identity. We then seek to join at that level, yet never feel completely satisfied.

We therefore seek a greater union with God, the I AM presence, and through meditative and contemplative practices achieve a greater knowing of peace, love and happiness in our lives. We do not realize that our limited consciousness cannot embrace the totality of God, and thus accept a PARTIAL happiness and wholeness.

Yet we know that SOMEthing is still missing, still beyond our grasp, and we dream of finding and attaining that. We dream of finding a soulmate, one with whom we can feel and express the COMPLETENESS of union at ALL levels (see Multi-Media), across all boundaries of space and time. At some level we KNOW that the ONLY way to unite with God is to unite with a PART of God at the same level of consciousness we inhabit at the moment.

We do not realize that all of us are the infinite parts of God, and that the creation of union MUST start WHERE WE ARE. We cannot achieve the soulmate union at the higher level, which by definition includes ALL levels, without including this physical level. That brings us back to Christ's teaching to "love your brother". We must get BEYOND the seeming barriers of the body, beyond separation, to create that blissful union.

That takes tolerance, acceptance, forgiveness, and a sharing of ALL that life has to offer, without fear or judgment. That unconditional love has been most often demonstrated in the past by long-standing marriages. My parents shared 63 years together, through all aspects of life, and reached a state of knowing beyond any barrier. I know of others who share that state of bliss, who share and extend to others a love and happiness that can only be of God.

Yet we have learned more, have learned that we can CHOOSE to bring down those barriers NOW!!! We can CHOOSE to overlook the judgments we formerly laid upon others, can CHOOSE to see Divine Intelligence guiding ALL life, can CHOOSE to accept unconditionally any actions, any thoughts, any expressions of our brothers.

And in doing so we find our soulmate, God, the infinite Innocence, the unconditional love that IS all that IS!!!
